In the week preceding the CGILgeneral strike on 20 November, a dense sequence of industrial actions is set to disrupt travel across Italy. According to the schedule published by the transport ministry and summarised by Quotidiano Motori, air traffic control, rail services and urban public transport will be affected between 6 and 14 November, with an additional 24-hour strike by easyJet crews. A monthly overview of all dates is available in the strike calendar.

Friday, 6 November: easyJet and ENAV Bari

The week begins with a 24-hour strike by easyJet cabin and cockpit crew, called by the grassroots union USB Lavoro Privato. The strike affects easyJet flights across Italy. At the same time, Italy's air traffic control authority ENAV at Bari airport will strike from 13:00 to 17:00, called by FAST-Confsal AV. Both actions overlap on Friday afternoon in Bari. Guaranteed departures, in line with ministry guidelines, are scheduled between 07:00 and 10:00 and between 18:00 and 21:00, along with long-haul and island connections.

Monday, 9 November: Italo, RFI and local public transport

The main rail strike of the week affects Italo: eight hours between 09:01 and 16:59, called by FILT-CGIL, FIT-CISL, UGL Ferrovieri, FAST-Confsal and ORSA Trasporti. Quifinanza notes a possible postponement to 11 November, though the official ministry schedule remains authoritative. On the same day, 9 November, maintenance staff at the RFI unit Manutenzione Sud, based in Verona, will also strike from 09:01 to 17:00, called by ORSA Ferrovie. Italo passengers should expect cancellations and delays across the country on Monday, with additional regional disruption caused by the RFIstrike.

On the same day, local public transport will also be affected, with AMAT in Palermo striking from 11:00 to 15:00 and AMT Genova from 11:30 to 15:30. Both strikes cover four hours around midday, with bus and tram services partially suspended. On Tuesday, 10 November, a four-hour B.U. Calabria strike from 10:00 to 14:00 follows in Cosenza, in Calabria .

Tuesday/Wednesday, 10-11 November: SBB Cargo Italia

During the night of 10 to 11 November, rail freight services will be hit: SBB Cargo Italia will strike from 21:00 to 04:59, called by FILT-CGIL. The action affects freight traffic exclusively; passenger trains are not covered according to the schedule. Trend Online characterises the strike as a nocturnal protest by rail workers.

Friday, 13 November: ATM Milan and ATVO Venice

At the end of the week, two major public transport strikes are concentrated in northern Italy. The ATM workforce in Milan will strike for 24 hours, called by AL-COBAS with the support of CONFIAL Trasporti. Strike periods run from 08:45 to 15:00 and from 18:00 until end of service. Metro, tram and bus services operated by the ATM group are affected, including the NET network in Monza and the out-of-town Trezzo system.

In Venice , ATVO will strike for 24 hours, called by SGB and FAST Mobilità. Furthermore, according to Sicurauto , additional public transport operators in the Veneto region will also be on strike on 13 and 14 November.

Saturday, 14 November: AMTAB Bari

The week closes with a 24-hour strike by AMTAB Bari, called by FILT-CGIL, FIT-CISL, UILT-UIL and UGL Autoferro. Bus services within the city of Bari will be affected. Under the statutory fasce di garanzia, the guaranteed service windows for local public transport are normally 06:00 to 09:00 and 18:00 to 21:00; the operator will announce specific details shortly before the strike begins.

What travellers can do

The core recommendations remain unchanged: check flights and trains on the affected days promptly via the official portals of easyJet and Italo, and in the event of RFI strikes also check Trenitalia connections, making use of rebooking or refund options. In the case of flight strikes, passengers may additionally assert their EU air passenger rights under Regulation 261/2004 . The guaranteed service windows for long-distance train strikes fall on weekdays between 06:00 and 09:00 and between 18:00 and 21:00; for flight strikes, between 07:00 and 10:00 and between 18:00 and 21:00. The Ministry of Transport's ongoing strike calendar is updated until shortly before the strike date, and additional stoppages or withdrawals remain possible.
