The year 2026 may still be young, yet the Lana region in South Tyrol, located near Merano , is already shaping up to offer a remarkably varied calendar of experiences. From the first blossoms of spring to atmospheric summer nights, autumnal chestnut festivals, and a charming Christmas market, each season casts its own unique spell. Music, culinary delights, culture, and nature blend seamlessly in Lana, carried by a vibrant events culture that makes the region's unifying spirit truly tangible.

A Springtime Spectacle in Bloom

With the arrival of spring, Lana awakens to new life. Orchards drape themselves in white and delicate pink, and the air is filled with the scent of blossoms and fresh grass. The event series Lana blüht (April 1–30, 2026) invites visitors to experience this season with all their senses. Weekdays feature guided hikes, workshops, and tastings, while weekends bring special highlights to the program. One standout is the Blütenhöfefest on April 26, 2026, when historic farmsteads and manor houses open their doors to offer glimpses into local history, craftsmanship, and rural culture. April also has plenty to offer on the sporting and culinary front: the Apfelblütengolfturnier on April 11 draws golf enthusiasts to the region, while the Genussmeile on April 18 invites guests to stroll and sample regional specialties. Adding to the spring atmosphere, charming decorations adorn Lana as well as the surrounding villages of Tscherms, Burgstall, and Gargazon. Pastel-colored zinc watering cans decorate the trees, while creative spring accents are set throughout the pedestrian zone and shop windows.

Summer Nights Full of Rhythm in Lana

During the warmer months, Lana transforms into a stage for music and art. LanaLive (May 16–25, 2026) brings contemporary sounds to extraordinary venues, while Lana meets Jazz (June 10–16, 2026) carries international jazz music through balmy summer evenings. A distinctive sense of joie de vivre takes hold during Lana23°° – lange Sommerabende (June 26 – August 14, 2026), when the pedestrian zone becomes a lively gathering place. Music, regional delicacies, and artisan crafts keep the evenings vibrant well into the night. The open-air theater performances at the Kränzelhof are also hugely popular. In the idyllic gardens, acclaimed actors bring entertaining productions to life in a relaxed and extraordinary setting, appealing to children and adults alike.

Autumn Pleasures in Lana: Törggelen, Chestnuts, and Music

When autumn paints the landscape in shades of gold, Lana honors its traditions with particular devotion. Starting in early October, the Törggele season runs through mid-November. Chestnuts are roasted, and the new wine, known as the Nuier, is poured. Numerous Buschenschänke and farm taverns in and around Lana serve classic Törggele menus with hearty specialties throughout this period. A highlight of the season is the event series Keschtnriggl (October 19 – November 2, 2026), which celebrates everything chestnut. Music, crafts, and culinary delights make it a memorable experience for the whole family. Closely tied to this is the Keschtnfestl in Völlan, which traditionally takes place on the third Sunday in October. The autumn cultural program is further enriched by LanAntiqua, a concert series that brings early music to historic venues in Lana, typically during autumn and the Advent season.

Winter Magic and Moments of Indulgence

In the colder months, Lana reveals a particularly atmospheric charm. The Sterntaler Weihnachtsmarkt (November 28 – December 31, 2026) transforms the Kapuzinergarten into a sparkling, fairy-tale setting. String lights glitter, the scent of cinnamon and roasted almonds fills the air, and a calm, family-friendly atmosphere invites lingering. A curated selection of South Tyrolean artisan products is on offer, making it ideal for browsing, discovering, and savoring, far from the hustle of large Christmas markets.
