Lake Garda: Camping as a Base for a Cycling Vacation

Covering roughly 370 square kilometers and stretching 52 kilometers in length, Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake. The region blends Mediterranean ease with a diverse range of leisure activities and has been one of the most popular travel destinationsfor decades. The 20 campsites and holiday villages of Lago di Garda Camping see themselves as hosts and ambassadors of the region. What began as a promotional association has grown into a comprehensive network in outdoor tourism, now covering both shores of Lake Garda. Giovanni Bernini, president of Lago di Garda Camping, describes its origins as a nearly spontaneous grassroots initiative, while coordinator Elena Oppizzi sums up the guiding principle: "Stronger together." Today the network encompasses more than 29,500 beds and generates over 2.5 million overnight stays per season, a clear testament to Lake Garda's growing importance as a destination for active, nature-focused vacations.
