While the fashion world turns its gaze to the runways of Milan Fashion Week from 22 to 28 September, OTBfounder Renzo Rosso is demonstrating with the Ancora Cortinathat his eye for aesthetics extends far beyond fashion. When the international fashion world convenes for Milan Fashion Week from 22 to 28 September, attention will, as ever, be fixed on the spring/summer 2027 collections, on Prada, Gucci and the rest, on the opening of "Vogue World: Milano", and on the houses setting the tone for the coming season.

One of the most influential names in the industry, Renzo Rosso, founder of the fashion group OTB, whose brands include Maison Margiela, Diesel and Jil Sander, has for some time been channelling his creative energy well beyond the runway. Away from the fashion capital Milan , Rosso is pursuing a second, deeply personal project: the Hotel Ancora in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Founded in 1826 and long regarded as a symbol of alpine hospitality , this storied establishment on the central promenade of Corso Italia reopened in June 2025 following an extensive restoration, not as an ordinary hotel project, but as an expression of the same visionary signature that has defined Rosso's fashion brands for decades.

From the runway to Corso Italia

For the interior concept, Rosso brought in Vicky Charles, the renowned former head designer of Soho House, who now runs her London studio Charles & Co. Together, they reimagined the property from the ground up: natural materials, wood and stone, warm colours, and furnishings with a distinctly personal character define the 38 individually designed rooms and suites, all of which offer views of the Dolomites . The connection between fashion and the Ancora Cortina is most apparent in the design and atmosphere of the property. Rosso's instinct for fashion, design and contemporary aesthetics finds an alpine counterpart in the Ancora: set amid the Dolomites, the hotel brings together its historic fabric with international design and a personal, modern interpretation of alpine hospitality.

Cortina itself has long since established itself as a distinctive meeting point for fashion, lifestyle and alpine culture. From 4 to 8 December 2026, the Cortina Fashion Weekend will take place for the 16th time, once again transforming the old town around Corso Italia into a stage for fashion, lifestyle and alpine culture. Organised by Cortina For Us in collaboration with the municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the event brings together local businesses, international brands and personalities from sport, culture and business. The programme includes talks, cocktail receptions, live music and in-store events along the festively lit promenade.

"What made this project so special for me was Renzo Rosso's desire to treat it as a restoration. Every room was to be a refuge, bold but never loud", says Vicky Charles.

A place to live and to linger

The hotel's culinary and atmospheric approach follows the same philosophy. The all-day bar tells the stories of the mountains through alpine botanicals and carefully selected spirits. In the basement lies the exclusive Brave Club, a space where mobile phones and selfies are consciously set aside in order to celebrate atmosphere and genuine togetherness in the moment.

The offering is rounded off by a spa of more than 200 square metres, featuring a sauna, steam room, cryotherapy and state-of-the-art beauty treatments, as well as a Technogym fitness suite.
