Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world, yet its true sense of everyday life often remains hidden. This is precisely the idea behind the new "Rome by Romans" concept from UNA Italian Hospitality: rather than following classic sightseeing routes the focus shifts to the perspective of locals. The goal is not simply to see the Eternal City, but to experience it with all the senses.

The concept launches in the neighborhood of Trastevere, one of the most authentic and atmospherically rich quarters of the Italian capital. Additional cities such as Milan and Turin are set to follow soon.

Trastevere: Five Perspectives on a Neighborhood

The concept is built around five individually curated routes, each offering a different way into Trastevere. They were developed by people who do not merely know the neighborhood, but help define it.

The visual route, created in collaboration with Roman gallerist Carla Chiarchiaro, draws attention to details that are often overlooked in daily life: ancient capitals, baroque paintings above unassuming doorways, and the warm afternoon light that bathes the facades in their characteristic hues.

Discovering Trastevere Through Its Flavors

Trastevere can also be experienced in an entirely new way through its cuisine. Chef Mauro Mencacci takes guests on a culinary journey of discovery: from freshly filled maritozzi to Roman artichokes and the intense aromas of a classic soffritto with anchovies and vinegar, unfolding as one strolls through the streets.

Another dimension is opened up by the floral perspective: florist and Trastevere expert Rosa Manzone reveals spots where the neighborhood's scents are at their most intense, from the aroma of freshly roasted coffee to sweet pastries drifting out of small bakeries onto the street.

Authentic Rome Beyond the Classic Sights

All routes deliberately take a different approach from traditional city tours. Landmarks are not the focus. Instead, the emphasis is on personal recommendations, everyday moments, and the small details that define the feeling of life in Trastevere. The concept is aimed at travelers who want to experience Italy in a more immersive and individual way, away from standardized itineraries.

The offering is exclusive and complimentary for guests of Trastevere Roma | UNA Esperienze . The hotel itself considers itself part of the neighborhood, and its vibrant atmosphere reflects the identity of Trastevere. A particular highlight is the rooftop terrace of the Vista Trastevere Roof Bar & Restaurant, which offers a sweeping view over the rooftops of Rome and adds an additional sensory dimension to any stay.

A New Approach to Urban Tourism

With "Rome by Romans," UNA Italian Hospitality underscores its commitment to rethinking the travel experience. Rather than simply providing accommodation, the concept places guests in direct contact with the city: personal, authentic, and multisensory. At a time when many travelers are actively seeking genuine experiences, this approach could well serve as a model for the future of urban tourism in Italy.
