Not Everything Is in My Hands

"God, grant me the serenityto accept the things I cannot change,the courage to change the things I can,and the wisdom to know the difference."
These words were written by the American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in the 1930s, during a time of economic crisis, war, and social upheaval. It is a prayer for people who are struggling. With themselves. With mistakes. With limitations.
Later, these lines became the guiding motto of Alcoholics Anonymous. Passed around the world as a daily aid to survival. Because those who struggle soon learn: not everything is in their hands. But where things do lie within reach, that is where responsibilitybegins.
The prayer offers courage, guards against overextending oneself, and helps channel one's own strength where it matters most.
