Wizz Air continues to expand its route network in Italy, launching a new direct connection between Naples and Milan Malpensa starting August 1, 2026. With two daily flights the airline is responding to strong demand for fast connections between northern and southern Italy.

This route is one of the most important domestic transport corridors in Italy. Both business travelers and tourists stand to benefit from the new connection, which offers a flexible and often time-saving alternative to rail and car travel.

14 flights per week and competitive entry-level fares

A total of 14 flights per week are planned, meaning two connections daily. Tickets start at 14.99 euros, according to the airline. With this pricing, Wizz Air deliberately positions itself in the low-cost segment, targeting budget-conscious travelers in particular. The aircraft deployed will be modern Airbus A321neos. These aircraft are known for their exceptional fuel efficiency while also providing a quieter flying experience.

The flight time between Naples and Milan is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, making air travel significantly faster than the train. By high-speed rail (e.g., Frecciarossa) the journey typically takes between 4.5 and 5 hours. That said, total travel time also depends on getting to the airport, security checks and boarding. For business travelers with tight schedules, the flight may still be the more attractive option, while rail travelers often benefit from more centrally located departure points.

Strategic importance for the Italian market

The new route underscores Italy's growing significance for Wizz Air. The airline has become one of the largest carriers in the country and continues to expand its offerings. In particular, Naples Airport is increasingly emerging as an important hub, not only for international routes but also for domestic connections. The new service to Milan further reinforces this role.

The new route also intensifies competition on one of Italy's most important corridors. For travelers, this means more choice and potentially lower fares. Especially for short trips, weekend getaways or business travel, the connection between Naples and Milan could become even more attractive going forward, particularly given the high frequency and comparatively low entry-level fares.
