Tuscany ranks among the most sought-after travel destinations in Europe for 2026. This is the finding of a recent survey by the vacation rental marketplace "HomeToGo" . The region holds fourth place in the European ranking. According to the survey, travel planning is driven primarily by a desire to slow down, experience nature, embrace sustainable vacation concepts, and seek out authentic culinary experiences. Particularly in demand are characterful accommodations with a strong regional identity. Examples cited include Park Hotel Marinetta in Marina di Bibbona and Relais Antico Podere San Francesco in Rosignano Marittimo, both located in the province of Livorno along the Etruscan Coast.

Between pine forest, sea, and country estate

Park Hotel Marinetta is nestled within a pine forest just a short walk from the beach. The property offers pools, restaurants, and a spa, as well as an excellent basefor exploring the Tuscan villages and landscapes of the surrounding area. Relais Antico Podere San Francesco is a traditional Tuscan estate with vacation apartments set amid olive groves. The property is aimed primarily at guests who prefer independent travel. A large garden pool along with regional breakfast options and local specialties round out the concept.

Slow travel and authentic experiences take center stage

The slow travel trend is increasingly shaping the Tuscan vacation experience. Rather than tightly scheduled tours, the focus is on individual stays, regional encounters, and cultural depth. From Park Hotel Marinetta, for instance, the village of Bolgheri is easily within reach, approached via the famous Viale dei Cipressi, a cypress-lined avenue stretching roughly five kilometers, celebrated in the poem "Davanti a San Guido" by Giosuè Carducci. Bolgheri is considered one of Italy's most prestigious wine regions, producing top-tier wines such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Masseto, and Guado al Tasso. Around Relais Antico Podere San Francesco, the Etruscan Coast offers numerous beaches, ranging from unspoiled dune stretches to the well-known Spiagge Bianche with their pale sand and turquoise water.

Culinary experiences remain a key travel motivation

Culinary experiences continue to be among the most important reasons for traveling to Tuscany. Wine and olive oil tastings, cooking classes, and regional markets play a central role for many guests. The region is considered a leader in wine and foodtourism in Italy. At Park Hotel Marinetta, this is reflected in a range of dining concepts, from classic interpretations of Tuscan dishes and fish and seafood specialties to regional grill cuisine featuring Chianina beef. At Relais Antico Podere San Francesco, the emphasis is on regional products, communal barbecue evenings, and excursions to nearby wineries.

Workations between the sea and cultural cities

Extended working stays are also growing in popularity. The combination of tranquil landscapes, solid infrastructure, and quality of life makes Tuscany an attractive destination for so-called workations. Apartments with dedicated work areas, reliable Wi-Fi, and private outdoor spaces provide the right conditions. After hours, the beaches beckon, along with day-trip destinations such as Pisa, Lucca, Siena, and Florence.
