When the sun sinks behind the mountains on the western shore of Lake Garda and bathes the water in warm golden tones, the Lake Garda becomes one of the most atmospheric destinations in Italy. Throughout the region, the evening hours are celebrated with special events that delight locals and visitors alike. The 20 campgrounds of Lago di Garda Camping provide valuable information on their website about everything happening after dark around the lake and in nearby Verona. The offerings range from enchanting open-air concerts and fireworks over the water to culinary evenings in historic lemon gardens and medieval castles.
Limonaia sotto le stelle – An Evening from Another Century
June 3 – September 16, 2026
Limone sul Garda is renowned for its historic limonaie, traditional terraced lemon houses dating back to the 17th century that once made possible the northernmost lemon cultivation in Europe. In the summer of 2026, one of these limonaie opens its doors after dark and transforms into a place full of atmosphere. Live music drifts through ancient stone walls, local products from Limone are offered for tasting, and the evening air carries the scent of citrus and the lake.
The "lemon house under the stars" is not a tourist spectacle but rather a quiet, atmospheric experience that brings the region's history to life in a truly special way. A reservation is not required.

Tener-a-mente – World-Class Music at the Amphitheater of the Vittoriale
June 26 – September 16, 2026
High above the western shore of Lake Garda, nestled within the gardens of the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera, lies one of Italy's most extraordinary open-air theaters. For years, this has been the home of the Tener-a-mente Festival del Vittoriale, one of the five most prestigious music festivals in Italy.
The stage offers sweeping views across the lake, the audience sits under an open sky, and the musical spectrum ranges from international jazz and singer-songwriters to classical music. Artists such as Patti Smith, Joan Baez, Ludovico Einaudi, and Paolo Conte have all performed on this stage. Starting in 2026, the program will be expanded: joining the summer festival is Tener-a-mente Equinozio, a new concert series in September that brings the summer at Lake Garda to a musical close.
Arena di Verona – Opera Under the Night Sky
June 11 – September 10, 2026
Those who have ever experienced an opera at the Arena di Verona are unlikely to forget it. The ancient Roman amphitheater, built in the first century AD and still one of the best-preserved in the world, serves each summer as the breathtaking backdrop for the Arena di Verona Opera Festival.
When thousands of candles are lit in the audience and the first notes of Verdi or Puccini fill the air, a singular atmosphereemerges that moves even those who would not normally consider themselves opera enthusiasts. Verona is only about 30 kilometers from the eastern shore of Lake Garda and is easily reachable by car from many of the 20 Lago di Garda Camping sites.
Fireworks over the Lake
May – October 2026
During the summer months, fireworks are a fixture of long evenings at Lake Garda. The water doubles every spark, the mountains form the backdrop, and many of the campgrounds offer a direct view of the spectacle.
The season kicks off in Limone sul Garda on May 24, when live music begins along the Lungolago at 9:00 PM and the first fireworks light up the sky at 10:00 PM. In June, Bardolino celebrates the Palio del Chiaretto with a musical show on the lakefront. In July and August, events continue in Lazise, Malcesine, and again in Limone, where on July 27 dancing water fountains and laser effects add to the program. The season closes in Bardolino in October at the Festa dell'Uva e del Vino with fireworks over the harbor basin.
The complete calendar with all dates is available on the Lago di Garda Camping website.

Culinary Nights – Wine, History, and Dolce Vita at Lake Garda
Valtenesi in Rosa – Wine in a Castle Courtyard
May 22 – 24, 2026
The medieval Castello di Moniga del Garda, built between the 14th and 15th centuries with panoramic views over the Brescian lakeshore, provides the extraordinary setting for "Valtenesi in Rosa", Italy's most important event dedicated to rosé wine.
Over the course of several evenings, winemakers from 16 municipalities in the Valtenesi open their bottles, experienced sommeliers guide tastings, and a gastronomic area featuring typical Lake Garda specialties sets the perfect mood. Culture, culinary tradition and the unique atmosphere of a historic setting come together here to create a truly exceptional experience.
Palio del Chiaretto – Rosé for Every Palate
June 5 – 7, 2026
Lake Garda is a feast not only for the eyes but also for the palate. The Palio del Chiaretto in Polpenazze revolves entirely around the celebrated rosé wine of the Valtenesi region, one of the most distinctive wines in Italy.
Winemakers from across the region open their cellars, invite guests to tastings, and share the stories behind their wines. The festival is complemented by regional specialties, music, and that relaxed atmosphere that makes Lake Garda a truly special destination from a culinary standpoint as well.
Lake Garda is a place where dreams do not need to be conjured from scratch, as they often take shape the moment the sun dips below the horizon and the night takes center stage. Those who choose one of the 20 campgrounds and holiday villages of Lago di Garda Camping as their base get to experience these summer evenings up close.
